Find Data
Access to data.
Gaining access to this gold mine of patient records and BioGrid’s cross referencing data mining tools, is relatively inexpensive but, for obvious ethical reasons, very strictly controlled. And therefore there are rigorous processes to be observed.
Custodians of data on the BioGrid platform have full control over whom, and for what purpose, their data are accessed. The BioGrid online Access Request System has ethical oversight by the Melbourne Health Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) on behalf of our BioGrid member institutions.
Nationwide ethics approval.
BioGrid has ethics approval for its national data linkage platform in every Australian state and the ACT. This approval includes systems, methodologies and processes for data linkage, data governance, data privacy, data security and data access. Put simply, if you are researching medical data for either clinical, pharma or publication purposes, BioGrid is an absolutely essential resource.
Patient identifier information removed.
Once access permission is obtained, all data transfers and linkages within BioGrid‘s infrastructure are performed over secure and encrypted network connections. Researchers can only access coded data (i.e. with personal identifiers removed).
Our fees.
BioGrid is a registered, not for profit organisation whose sole function is to be a sustainable, ongoing, data platform enabling service connecting the medical, clinical, and pharma research communities. Fees are set at a level to cover the costs of delivering our current and future services (e.g. staffing, overheads, consumables and technology development).
Research and publishing friendly tools.
Once you’ve completed the approval process for access to the data, we make finding what you need, cross referencing it, and visualising it, simple.
Since beginning in 2003, BioGrid has been working with clinical and pharma researchers and technology experts to continually update and develop our systems in line with what researchers need for clinical studies and publication purposes.
It will be limited only by the imagination of the investigator
“Is this data available?”
It pays to ask. Often the data you’re looking for is within other data we can access for you. Our BioGrid account managers are experienced “miners” and can show you how to gather, sort and integrate the data you require from multiple sites using different data sources. Many is the time they have helped researchers with difficult to find information.
