Collection web applications
BioGrid has the capability to enable both clinician entered and patient reported data to be collected, ingested, accessed and analysed to provide data insights that will inform clinicians and researchers.
Clinical and Research Web Applications
BioGrid has significant experience in developing web based clinical data collection applications for use in hospitals and clinics. BioGrid facilitates integration of data from hospital systems such as patient administration and pathology systems to ensure data entry efficiency. In addition, BioGrid facilitates integration of completed data into hospital electronic medical records.
BioGrid software development is underpinned by working closely with clinicians to ensure data collection applications match the clinic workflow for ease of use.
These clinical data collection applications can accommodate patient reported outcomes data, e.g. quality of life surveys, submitted online by patients directly into the application database.
BioGrid has developed a number of web-based applications for the collection and management of health information to support clinical care and facilitate clinical research. These applications are available for use by all BioGrid Members and Collaborators and include:
ACCORD (Oncology Clinical and Research Database)
ANZTHOR (ANZ Thoracic Clinical Quality Registry)
Diabetes Clinical and Research Database
Dermatology Clinical and Research Database
ePAD (electronic Castrate Resistant Prostate Cancer Australian Database) Clinical Registry
Pituitary Tumour Clinical and Research Database
TRACC (Treatment of Recurrent and Advanced Colorectal Cancer) Clinical Registry
TABITHA (Treatment of Advanced Breast Cancer in the HER2 Positive Australian Patient) Clinical Registry
These databases can also be connected to the BioGrid Australia data linkage platform, enabling data to be used for approved collaborative clinical audit and research projects.

REDCap
BioGrid can assist with designing and configuring a dataset to your requirements utilising the REDCap software. REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture) is a secure web application for building and managing online surveys and databases or research. The REDCap software is free to use if your site has a REDCap license and if your use is for non-commercial purposes.
REDCap can be configured more quickly than bespoke software can be developed, and for some research applications, such as patient questionnaires, it is ideal.
BioGrid has configured REDCap for use by clinicians working with rare cancers to provide an international dataset and collection tool that can be used across the world to facilitate consistent collection of data for rare cancers.
REDCap can be used to capture research study specific information that would not normally be collected in a clinical management system. BioGrid can facilitate custom solutions for sites that enables integration of other data to and from REDCap.
Using REDCap, the Australian and Aotearoa New Zealand Thoracic Clinical Quality Registry (ANZTHOR) has recently been established by the Australian & New Zealand Society of Cardiac & Thoracic Surgeons (ANZSCTS) as part of its efforts to provide a clinical quality registry for the routine collection and monitoring of surgical procedure data on all thoracic surgery performed in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.
BioGrid assists with on-boarding hospitals to ANZTHOR. This includes managing the ethics, governance and contracting required to on-board a centre, as well as working with each centre on solutions for the integration of data from other data sources into the Registry.

Patient Reported Outcomes
BioGrid has developed, with ethics approval, online patient questionnaires or surveys for several disease areas. This includes development and management of web applications and databases.
These patient reported outcomes data (if consent is provided) can be made available through the BioGrid platform to connect to other hospital based clinical and administration datasets.
BioGrid can facilitate the comparison of patient reported outcomes data with clinician entered data due to BioGrid’s capability to connect hospital-based clinical data sets with patient reported outcomes data sets.
